My 2001 Alhambra 1.9 TDi SE developed dreadful vibration under load at motorway speeds. The dual-mass flywheel was replaced under warranty but I can still feel a vibration. It appears under load and goes when the clutch is depressed. It's not the same as the other shake, but feels like a harsh road surface. The garage thinks it's the rear shocks (64k miles inc caravan towing). Could it be this or should I look at engine mounting or something else in the drive-train?

If it appears under load and goes when you depress the clutch pedal then it won't be the shocks. Check the CV joints for split boots in the first instance - what mileage? and when did the vibration start?
